Last Saturday… a banner night in San Anselmo for the first ever Battle of the Teen Bands. And rock they did. 10 performances, with Ready for Geddy (crushing it with Rush’s Tom Sawyer, taking first place and the grand prize of $1000, plus a professionally produced song by Craig Bartock and Aidan Nelson that will be recorded at the Walking Mirrors Forest Knolls studio. They also earned a spot to perform at Live on the Avenue this summer. Hats off to the two runner-ups: J-MANT from Marin Academy and Solace, an AWHS/Tam High duo. Both bands went home with $500 each. These unique bands took a chance on originals and unique performances. All 10 bands were, in a word, AMAZING. All bands are winners, each also receiving a band pizza party at Creekside in recognition of their awesomeness. Ten bands, three songs each to be completed in 12 minutes, with a 4 minute set change over. The audience of nearly 1000 attendees through the three hour concert was wowed by the level of talent, passion, and professionalism of these young bands. The line-up went:
